Girls Weekend: Brookfield Edition

Writer: One of a Kind MilwaukeeOne of a Kind Milwaukee

The inaugural Girls Weekend Series was held in December. This series aims to achieve two main objectives:

  1. To feature and promote fantastic locations and businesses!

  2. To design enjoyable and easily replicable girls' trips that others can utilize when planning a getaway, whether for a birthday, a bachelorette party, or just for fun!

If you're not already following One of a Kind Milwaukee on social media, I highly recommend it, as it serves as your VIP pass to everything happening during these Girls Weekends. You'll get live story feeds as events unfold, instant updates, and summaries from the event. However, I understand that social media isn't for everyone, which is why I'm writing this article. I'm not a professional writer, so I'll be sharing this information as if I'm chatting with a friend and giving some advice. It'll be brief and to the point, and the best part is that I'll provide you with a direct link to the full weekend itinerary. Yes, there is an itinerary, and I do the same for my personal trips.

Our Girls Weekend included a two-night stay at the Embassy Suites By Hilton Milwaukee Brookfield. The hotel rooms are spacious and ideal for groups, with suite layouts that feature a full living room area separate from the bedroom. For our group of six, we had two rooms, and everyone had their own bed since there is a sofa sleeper in the living room area. The early risers in our group took that bed, which was perfect because they could make noise, turn on the lights, and do whatever they wanted without disturbing those in the bedroom from their beauty sleep.

On the first night of the weekend, we kept things simple by having everyone arrive in "ugly sweaters" and enjoy the hotel's Evening Reception, which included two drinks and some snacks! Afterward, we went upstairs for our "Girls Dinner." Everyone brought a fun-themed board, and since the rooms have mini-fridges and a full-sized table/counter space, it was easy to host this dinner in one of the rooms! We all gathered in one of the suites and enjoyed the dinner while watching "A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter." Once we cleaned up, it was already past some ladies' bedtimes teehee, but we still had a few more activities planned. We did a quick surprise craft with monogrammed iron-ons for everyone's PJs. All the girls were informed to bring a pair of PJs they didn't mind altering. We used the iron and ironing board in the room without any issues. They turned out super cute, and we even managed to create a TikTok transition from "ugly sweaters" into PJs, which only took about 15 minutes, including changing! But we didn't stop there; we had just one more activity: a little DIY facial time. It was a lot of fun, and I highly recommend trying it. There are two sinks in the room, so washing off the cleanser and clay mask wasn't too difficult. You could also skip that step.

DIY Facial Steps:

Make Up Wipe Removal

Exfoliating Cleanser

Peel Mask w/Cucumber Eyes

Clay Mask w/Eye Patches and Lip Patch

Steam Eye Mask w/Lip Balm and Hand Cream

After a restful night's sleep, two of us headed to the fitness center around 6 am. That's right, the early bird catches the worm! We went downstairs through the pool area to reach the fitness center. I decided to try the Peloton since I had never used one before, and they had one available, so why not? My friend used her workout app to do her exercises with the center's bench, dumbbells, and yoga mat. I experimented a bit on the Peloton, found an instructor I connected with, and thoroughly enjoyed my ride. I even did a second workout focused on arms since my friend was still busy with her routine. A few other hotel guests joined us in the fitness center towards the end of our session, using the treadmill and ellipticals, and there was ample space for all of us to exercise. After our workout, we were full of energy and made our way back to our room to wake up our other roommate so we could join the other girls for breakfast.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Milwaukee Brookfield offers a fantastic variety of breakfast choices, including omelets made by a chef. I found myself with three drinks (iced coffee, tea, and orange juice), French toast sticks, sausage, breakfast potatoes, yogurt, and honeydew melon!

I did go back for more fruit and sausages! Does anyone else like to dunk their sausage in maple syrup, or is that just me? After finishing breakfast, we headed back upstairs to change and prepare for Mend Studios to arrive onsite. Mend Studios has locations in Brookfield and Mequon, and one of their services is providing chair massages for offsite events. Sarah, our massage therapist, gave each of us a 10-minute massage in one room while the rest of us participated in Chair Yoga in another room. The TVs have YouTube, so we found a nice hour-long beginner Chair Yoga session for something fun and different. Then it was time for some planned free time; some took a nap, others showered, and a few watched a movie. We then had time to start getting ready since some in the group definitely take longer, so a formal start time was necessary! We all gathered before leaving for our One of a Kind themed crawl. We started with a French 75 made with Empress Gin, and I had a fun goodie bag surprise for the girls, thanks to Olives to Oil, Magnolia Soap and Bath Co Brookfield, Perspire Sauna Brookfield, and Visit Brookfield for contributing to the goodie bags.

The One of a Kind Crawl was designed as a way to enjoy a night out with nearby venues, but it's more than just drinking, so it's not merely a pub crawl (though we do enjoy a good pub crawl!). It includes food, but food and drink alone aren't sufficient; there should also be an activity to truly complete the experience, making it a genuinely One of a Kind Crawl. Understand?

Anyway... the first stop was Mitchell's Fish Market, where they impressed us with tasty mocktails and cocktails, as well as a fantastic selection of appetizers. They were excellent hosts and even crafted personalized menus for us, which was adorable!

We then headed over to Whirlyball where we had a great time with Hyperbowling, which is ideal for those who don't have the usual focus or patience for traditional bowling—like me! Needless to say, I'll definitely be back for this type of bowling. As it began to drizzle, we walked through the mall to avoid the weather a bit and made our way to Bar Louie where we enjoyed cocktails, mocktails, and plenty of appetizers! The bean dip was incredibly tasty, and I also had to order a Diet Coke for a little energy.

We eventually returned to the hotel bar, Bertrand's, for one last visit. I personally ordered another Diet, and we played a round of darts. Then it was time for bed.

The next morning, we were a weary group. We made sure to tidy up our rooms, retrieve any lost socks from under the beds, eyelashes from sink counters, and grab a final bite before checking out.

7Brew is an excellent spot for those seeking an extra caffeine boost at any time, conveniently located in the hotel parking lot. Although I didn't get a chance to visit during the Girls Weekend, I have since stopped by a few times to try different energy drink options from the "secret menu."

I hope this is useful and that you can replicate it for your next Girls Weekend: Brookfield Edition!

Stay tuned for the next Girls Weekend.
